Daily Journal: What techniques do you use to break a logjam in mediation?

Infante: My technique is to reframe the issues, go back and get more detail on risk analysis, focus on avoidance of legal fees and expenses, and try to paint a picture of what is in store if they don't settle a case. Give them a reality check and let them reassess their own positions. Timing is critical to what I do and don't do. Breaking an impasse requires persistence.
