Daily Journal: Describe a past incident in your work as a judge or as a lawyer that you handled that has helped you in your work now as a neutral.

Kyriacou: I had a few bad experiences representing clients at mediations where the mediators were self-centered, rude, abrupt and even condescending to the parties and attorneys. I learned that as the neutral, the dispute is not about the mediator. It is about the needs and interests of the parties and their attorneys.
