SANTA ANA — From polling juries in the 350 trials he presided over as an Orange County judge, Thierry Colaw gained an intimate knowledge of how jurors think and now deploys that expertise in mediations, attorneys say.
“I’ve never seen a judge ever do anything like that,” said John R. Hillsman, who appeared in Colaw’s courtroom in a complex wrongful death trial and now uses his mediation services in maritime law cases.
