Why I teach procedure

Society needs a framework for addressing disputes, and collective decisions, as to which parties and observers do not share perceptions of reality much less proposals for remedies.

I teach procedure. I am not sure if I have embraced that subject through self-selection, training, or both. I loved Civ Pro when I took it in 1988. I have taught it a dozen times since. But I have realized that I am not alone. There is a distinct population interested in procedure, perhaps even more than substance, who think about issues in those terms. To do so does not make us any better. It may be to others a bit bizarre.
