Compton City Attorney accuses council of improperly removing staff from his office
The complaint filed Tuesday states that the city attorney's staff is provided by the city's charter, and Section 1203 of that document prohibits the city council from discontinuing or reassigning duties designated to a particular office.




Compton's city attorney sued the city's mayor and city council over the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget, claiming that it would remove his staff and place it under the supervision of the city manager, who is not licensed by the State Bar. He seeks a court order invalidating the city council resolution and enjoining the city council from voting on the matter.
