Why the NCAA will take a forever timeout

The NCAA has agreed to a $2.8 billion settlement in a class action lawsuit, which will establish a fund to compensate current and former college athletes for lost wages pertaining to their name, image, and likeness (NIL) and other injustices dating back to 2016. The settlement is expected to mark the end of the NCAA as we know it.

In May, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and major college conferences agreed to settle charges in a historic antitrust suit, House v. NCAA. The settlement amount is expected to be a whopping $2.8 billion and will spawn a fund dedicated to compensating current and former college athletes for lost wages pertaining to their name, image and likeness (NIL) and other injustices dating back to 2016.
