9th Circuit rules it has no jurisdiction in transit funds dispute

The case revolved around a Labor Department announcement in a 2021 letter that it would deny federal mass transit funds to agencies throughout the state due to the California Public Employees' Pension Reform Act law.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel has ruled that it has no business getting involved in a dispute between the federal government and the state over transit funds and public employee labor union rights because the case did not involve any pending grant applications.
