LA lawyer deceived inmates about resentencing program, State Bar says

Aaron Spolin told inmates and their families that he could get them resentenced under AB 2942, when he knew they did not meet the criteria, according to State Bar Chief Trial Counsel George Cardona.

The State Bar accused a Los Angeles lawyer Tuesday of misleading inmates and their families that they were eligible for a resentencing program to take their money.

Aaron Spolin sought out inmates to file resentencing requests under California's AB 2942, according to the 18 disciplinary charges filed by the State Bar. In the matter of Aaron Spolin, SBC-24-O-30656, (State Bar Court filed Aug. 23, 2024)
