Gov. Jerry Brown signed SB 292 into law Monday, which alters California's workplace discrimination law to include claims of sexual harassment that were not motivated by sexual desire. The legislation responds to a California Court of Appeal decision that threw out a male ironworker's claim of sexual harassment in part because the male supervisor who made sexually derogatory comments was not sexually attracted to him. The bill, authored by Sen. Ellen Corbett, was sponsored by the California Employment Laywers Association, the Transgender Law Center and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund. <!-- Sexual desire need not be motivation in sexual harassment claims, according to new law -->
