Prop 8 Hearing Date Set
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals set a Dec. 6 oral argument date for hearing the Proposition 8 same-sex marriage case Thursday, but did not release the names of the three judges on the panel.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals set a Dec. 6 oral argument date for hearing the Proposition 8 same-sex marriage case Thursday, but did not release the names of the three judges on the panel.
Prop. 8 proponents are appealing Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker's Aug. 4 order striking down the same-sex marriage ban as unconstitutional. The court has also accepted written arguments about whether the Prop. 8 opponents have legal standing to bring the appeal. The names of the three panelists will be announced closer to the argument date.
C-SPAN plans to broadcast the proceedings, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the San Francisco courthouse.
