With more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Roherty serves as president of Pacific Building Group. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of the general contracting firm and leads 150 employees with a focus on teamwork, project execution and client satisfaction.
PBG specializes in tenant improvements, health care and high-tech projects. It has done a number of creative conversions for companies including Qualcomm Inc., Sony Corp., Verizon Communications Inc. and Kilroy Realty Corp.
The company recently completed new offices for Daybreak Game Co., formerly Sony Online Entertainment, in Carmel Mountain Ranch. The 60,000-square foot space was transformed from an outdated building to a modern hub for the developers of blockbuster games and franchises including DC Universe Online and EverQuest Next. The $4 million project included a lounge area with a garage-style roll-up door, booth seating and bar-height tables; large training and gaming spaces; a theater; and outdoor charging stations for cars.
The company also completed a $3.2 million renovation of Bay Club Carmel Valley, transforming it from a gym to a multipurpose wellness destination. Additions to the 87,000-square foot facility included new conference facilities, an outdoor pavilion and gathering space, a boccie ball court, hardscape and landscape, and concrete work.
Roherty's previous experience includes the design, build-out and construction of more than 3 million square feet of office and retail space as vice president of construction for American Assets Inc., a full-service real estate company. He was responsible for the execution of several signature San Diego projects, including Sony's Engineering and Manufacturing facility, Insurance Company of the West headquarters, Gateway Computer headquarters, Hewlett-Packard Building 8, Sharp-Rees Steely Medical Office Building and La Jolla Village Square Shopping Center.
Roherty and PBG staff are active in the community, devoting their time to organizations including the San Diego Rescue Mission, Sharp Healthcare Foundation and Scripps Foundation, among others. Roherty has served on the board of the Ecke Family YMCA in Encinitas for 20 years.
