McKool Smith to represent plaintiff in Uber lawsuit
McKool Smith signed on to represent SC Innovations Inc. in its federal antitrust case against Uber Technologies Inc. after the disqualification of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP.
Plaintiff SC Innovations is the successor to a defunct ride-hailing service app Sidecar Technologies that alleges Uber undercut competition by sustaining losses in a bid to monopolize the market.
Lewis T. LeClair of McKool Smith PC in Dallas and Kirk D. Dillman of McKool Smith Hennigan PC in Los Angeles filed a notice to appear in the case on Thursday. SC Innovations Inc. v. Uber Technologies Inc., 18-CV07440 (N.D. Cal., filed Dec. 11, 2018.)
Uber is represented by Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
In February, Uber's lawyers filed a motion to disqualify Quinn Emanuel, arguing confidential information was shared with Quinn Emanuel when the firm represented Uber in a similar case against Yellow Group LLC.
On May 2, U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero of the Northern District of California disqualified Quinn Emanuel from defending Sidecar.
