SAN FRANCISCO - Sarah R. London, a partner in Lieff Cabraser's San Francisco office, is described as a tenacious, skilled and experienced advocate for the injured, employees and consumers.
She was appointed as co-lead counsel and liaison counsel for plaintiffs, which include a young man who suffered a stroke as a result of his Juul addiction, in the nationwide multidistrict Juul e-cigarette fraud and injury litigation.
"I am proud to have led the negotiations to create settlement programs to offer every plaintiff in the Juul MDL the opportunity to settle their claims against Juul Labs Inc. and related Defendants," London said. "The scope of this case was enormous. These settlement programs will provide meaningful relief to young people suffering nicotine addiction and related injuries, as well as school districts, counties, cities and tribes contending with youth nicotine addiction."
The COVID-19 pandemic prompted society to use modern science and technology to initiate dramatic change. London believes that as time goes on, this advancement will make things greater for everyone involved and become more commonplace throughout society.
"I think advancements in technology and the ways people consume information has raised the bar on what we as trial lawyers must do in the courtroom to engage jurors," she said. "I also think technology has allowed us to run more efficient and cost-effective focus groups, which improves trial presentation and facilitates resolution."
London is an experienced leader in the plaintiffs' bar and is a dedicated advocate for the injured, especially women and young people.
Her advice to young attorneys is to say yes to every trial opportunity.
"There is nothing like trial to improve your skills as a litigator -- to help see the forest for the trees and focus on what matters," she said. "Always remember that high-stakes litigation is a team sport. Respect, inclusion, and consensus make strong teams that drive successful results."
