Kristin Rizzo believes parties seeking to resolve a dispute through mediation deserve a partner in resolution -- a mediator who is truly dedicated to the parties' needs and goals and who has a command of the case details and the underlying laws involved. Passionate about dispute resolution, Ms. Rizzo uses her strong work ethic, empathy, and tenacity to help parties resolve their disputes in creative and meaningful ways.
With nearly two decades of legal experience, Ms. Rizzo has represented clients in litigation and mediation across a wide range of civil matters. She began her career at a small plaintiff-side law firm, then moved to a top San Diego defense-side law firm before founding her own litigation firm, Rizzo Law. Prior to joining Judicate West in 2022, Ms. Rizzo mediated employment and civil law matters, both privately and on various panels throughout the state.
Appointed by the mayor and city council in 2020, Ms. Rizzo is serving as a commissioner and is the past chair for the City of San Diego Human Relations Commission, which advocates for human and civil rights. She has held numerous positions with the San Diego County Bar Association, including president (2018); treasurer (2015); Labor and Employment Section chair (2013); and New Lawyer Division president (2010), where she often speaks on leadership, employment law and mediation. Ms. Rizzo also co-chairs the Lawyers Club of San Diego's Mediator Taskforce and serves as a trustee for the University of San Diego School of Law Board of Visitors. In 2018, she was named to San Diego Metro's "40 Under 40" awards list and received the San Diego County Bar Foundation's "Service Award."
