When Shannon Castellani attended law school, she wanted to work with abused and neglected children. She also spent time in a program representing children in foster care, but the emotional burden took a toll on her.

“It’s super important and something I’ve tried to stay involved with, but I was like, ‘I can’t do this,’” Castellani said. “It’s just so sad, so heart-wrenching.”
