After working for 15 years in publishing, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Sherry L. Powell went to law school, primarily because the print industry was dying a slow death, but also because in high school she thought about becoming a judge.

The results from a career assessment when she was a teenager showed that a judgeship would be a good choice for her, but that idea was short-lived.
