NEWPORT BEACH – Twenty five was Judge M. Marc Kelly’s number. It was printed on his basketball shirt when he was a point guard at Notre Dame high school.

Nowadays, the number closest to his chest is 12. It references the number of people required to form a jury to hear each of the nearly 400 criminal trials he has presided over during two decades on bench.
