EL MONTE — The reason to become a judicial officer is “to make some difficult decisions, because you have the courage to make them,” Judge Javier Perez explained, looking back on his election four years ago.

He says he is very confident that he is making the best choice, and doesn’t usually ask himself, “Did I make the right decision?

“I spent more time thinking about that before,” he reasoned.
