Judge Carol Williams Elswick wants lawyers to know that judges have a heart

ALHAMBRA -- Los Angeles County Judge Carol Williams Elswick is not a fan of tardy lawyers. They muck up the workflow of the very busy criminal docket she hears in Alhambra.

"Back in the day, when I was a lawyer, you were in that chair at 8:30," Elswick recalled, landing a fist on her desk.

"Not anymore," she lamented. "You just come and go whenever you darn well please, apparently."
