FRESNO -- U.S. Magistrate Judge Sheila K. Oberto turned down a promotion recently. When Chief Magistrate Kendall J. Newman began planning his retirement, he met with Oberto and reminded her she was next in line for seniority.
"I thought about it for a bit," she said, but added, "I chose to continue doing my job and not be chief."
