SAN MATEO - Approaching a decade into his tenure on the Superior Court bench here, Clifford V. Cretan is now enjoying the challenges and learning experiences that come with overseeing a completely unfamiliar assignment.
In July, Cretan was named the supervising judge of the juvenile court. He oversees delinquency and dependency trials from the county's state-of-the-art youth services center in San Mateo.
