  OAKLAND - When it comes to analogizing the role of the judge to a sports referee,
  Alameda County Superior Court Judge George Hernandez prefers soccer over baseball.


  "Some of my colleagues look at the judge's role as calling some balls and strikes
  - you're the judge, you're the referee and you just look at what they do and you make
  a decision," Hernandez said.
