President Barack Obama and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin agree on one thing, at least: each has handed a black robe to Morgan B. Christen of Anchorage.

Palin, a Republican, put Christen on the Alaska Supreme Court in 2009. Obama, a Democrat, placed her on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2012.
