WEST COVINA — As an eighth grader, Judge Gloria White-Brown aspired to go into medicine, but after her teachers showed her a graphic film of a doctor performing stomach surgery, she decided to go into law.
“For some reason, they showed us a film of an actual surgery,” White-Brown said. “They showed the incision, the clamping back. It was at that point that I said, ‘Oh, I can’t be a doctor. I’ll be a lawyer.”
