Lisa M. Gamoian won a contentious 2014 judicial election in which she emphasized her tough-on-crime credentials as a former prosecutor.

Then, 18 months after donning her robe and taking her seat on the Fresno County Superior Court, she confronted for sentencing a silver-haired, bushy-bearded, 83-year-old pig farmer convicted by a jury on a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed gun in his truck without a permit.
