WOODLAND -- Trials don't phase Yolo County Judge Tom M. Dyer. After all, he's already survived several budget appropriations hearings in the state Legislature.

"My first one was over 11 hours," Dyer said. "Everyone is looking at you. You're sitting at this long conference table. You're speaking for the governor. You have to be very careful what you say. Being on the bench is the same way."
