Placer County (Roseville)
ROSEVILLE -- A Gold Rush hub, Placer County got its name from the times.
"Placer is a type of mining," said Commissioner Glenn Holley, a lifelong local.
For those who haven't heard the county's name aloud, Placer is pronounced similar to the word "plaster," not like the word "place" with an "r" added at the end.
