LAKEPORT — While in law school, Judge Shanda Harry enrolled in an American Indian studies master’s program that would trigger a move hundreds of miles up north to work closely with the Pomo Indians of Lake County.

Specifically, she spent years with the Hopland tribe on everything from Indian Child Welfare Act cases to sovereign nation matters involving the construction of a new casino.
