With a mostly favorable tentative ruling in hand, San Diego attorney Michael W. Garnett said he'd be brief.

"I plan to not argue myself out of the tentative," he joked.

Garnett was only 18 seconds into his argument, on behalf of a couple whose rental home was damaged by tenants in a marijuana farm fire, when 4th District Court of Appeal Justice Frank J. Menetrez interrupted him.
