BAKERSFIELD — During a year that saw a dramatic slowdown of civil trials, one of Judge Stephen Schuett’s matters ended with a jury awarding more than $70 million in damages.
“The Cuevas case was the largest jury verdict I have presided over,” he said in an email. “My understanding is that it was the highest personal injury verdict in Kern County’s history.”
