Judge Charles D. Novack’s then-girlfriend, now wife, suggested that he go into bankruptcy law after she noticed he was becoming bored with litigation.
Trusting his partner, Novack started sending letters to every bankruptcy judge in the Northern District of California to ask if they needed a law clerk. Novack ended up clerking for Judge Randall J. Newsome from 1991 to 1993.
