Facts

In 2003, Jamie Sandoval, 40, was traveling on the I-91 freeway in Corona when he was struck by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. motorcycle deputy who cut him off. The deputy was changing lanes when he struck Sandoval's truck on the front passenger side. As a result, Sandoval's vehicle jerked. Sandoval was injured and taken to the hospital. He sued Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept., alleging negligence. The defendants admitted liability.
