On Sept. 4, 2005, David Jones was driving Katherine Jones, Madison Jones, Andrew Thomas, and Hannah Jones. Eric McDaniel ran a red light while driving a United States Forest Service water truck and crashed into David Jones' vehicle.
Damages
The plaintiffs' claimed $4,640,874.
Injuries
The plaintiffs claimed injuries included pelvic fractures, contusions, forehead laceration, upper orbit laceration, ear laceration, ankle sprain, chest and abdomen abrasions, emotional distress, and loss of consortium. Katherine Jones required intubations, laparotomy, splenectomy, ruptures diaphragm repair, liver repair, decompressive craniotomy, and shunt replacement.
Result
The parties reached a settlement of $6,571,875.
