Facts
On Jan. 10, 1996, plaintiff, a 44-year-old woman, was a guest at a South Lake Tahoe hotel on a ski vacation. She slipped and fell on the first floor of the hotel as she was exiting the elevator. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence and premises liability theories of recovery

Damages
Per the defendant, the plaintiff was a self-employed hairstylist for 30 years and could no longer perform her job duties as a hairstylist. She has not worked since Jan. 10, 1996. Therefore, she would have a wage loss claim up through age 60-65.
Injuries
The plantiff's claimed injuries included three back surgeries at the L4-5 and two surgeries to her left elbow. Per the defendant, the plaintiff also underwent right shoulder arthroscopy.

The settlement was reached approximately one year and four months after the case was filed.
