Denton, a 58-year-old prison guard, was a customer at defendant Carl's Jr. The defendant employee, Nancy Tangkengko, allegedly spilled hot coffee in the plaintiff's lap. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendants based on negligence theories of recovery.
