On Oct. 9, 1994, plaintiff Jessie M. Smith, a 46-year-old seamstress, was stepping out of the shower in the bathroom of her residence, when she slipped and fell. The plaintiff rented the house from defendant J.P. DeCima dba One Stop Home Rental Company. Defendant Cathy Salzberry was the office manager for DeCima's property management company. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendants based on negligence and premises liability theories of recovery.
