In May 1990, the plaintiff, a 36-year-old secretary, was hired by defendant Para Tech Coating Inc., a small manufacturer with approximately 20 employees. The plaintiff was hired to perform office and secretarial work. She usually worked with one other office person. The plaintiff recieved two raises during her employment. The defendant claimed the plaintiff had problems interfacing and communicating with the defendant operations manager and other personnel. The plaintiff claimed that the sales manager discriminated against her based on her sex and that the defendant operations manager did not prevent or stop the discrimination, after the plaintiff complained. On April 12, 1993, the plaintiff's employment was terminated. The plaintiff brought this action against her employer, the corporation's operations manager, and the owner/president based on wrongful termination and sex discrimination theories of recovery.

The plaintiff made no settlement demand. The defendants made a C.C.P. º998 offer of compromise for $2,000.
