Facts

On June 5, 1992, while on a family vacation, a 62-year-old general manager of a city gas department was working on the soft water hook up under his vacation trailer at a Lake Havasu resort. He cut into a 1-inch white PVC pipe which he thought was a water line. Instead this white PVC pipe contained a 220-volt electrical line to the property (by code, this should have been located in gray PVC). He was instantaneously electrocuted. Plaintiffs were his surviving widow and 2 adult children.
