On December 27, 1989, Plaintiff Alyssa Antonia Gannaway was born. On January 12, 1990, Plaintiff's mother presented the newborn to Defendant Dr. Rodolfo Perez; the mother had felt a lump on Plaintiff's tailbone. Defendant concluded that the area was normal fatty tissue; and so, he conducted no further testing. On September 4, 1990, at the age of 8 months, Plaintiff was diagnosed with sacrococcygeal teratoma which had metastasized to the lungs.
