Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Lucent Technologies claimed Microsoft's handwriting recognition technology infringed on the patent held by the French network supplier, that the menu structure for selecting calendar dates in Microsoft's programs infringed on another Alcatel-Lucent patent, and that defendant infringed on a MPEG-2 video encoding technology patent as well.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant denied plaintiff's allegations.
Result
A federal San Diego jury awarded plaintiff $367.4 million.
