Facts

Christian Rodriguez and Alberto Cazarez, individually and a class representatives sued the City of Los Angeles, Carmen Trutanich, Charles Beck, Allan Nadir, and Angel Gomez, concerning interactions with certain members of the Los Angeles Police Dept. and the City Attorney's office between October 2007 and March 2013.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs filed this action to challenge 26 gang injunctions that imposed substantially similar curfew provisions. Plaintiffs sought to enjoin enforcement of the injunctions on vagueness grounds.

Result

The court granted plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction, enjoining enforcement only of the curfew restrictions. The motion was otherwise denied. Ultimately, the city agreed to settle the attorney fee dispute for $5.75 million.
