Facts
On March 7, 1994, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Plaintiff David Norris, a 40-year-old carpenter and world-champion trapshooter, was en route to the Charleton Heston Celebrity Trap Shoot in Arizona. He was traveling southbound on Grayson in Venice when his automobile was struck by a gray Chevrolet Corsica in a broadside collision. The driver of the Corsica, allegedly identified as Defendant Oscar Escalante Miranda, exited the vehicle. Plaintiff claimed that Miranda was wearing a shirt with "Avis" embroidered over the heart; that he asked Miranda if he had insurance; and that Miranda answered, "Avis has insurance." Avis, aka Grand Rent-A-Car Corporation, was the alleged owner of the vehicle and was named as a Defendant. The driver of the Corsica then got back into his vehicle and left the scene.
