On June 16, 1994, Plaintiff, a 37-year-old sushi chef, was stopped at a traffic light when Defendant fell asleep at the wheel; as a result, Defendant's vehicle struck Plaintiff's vehicle in a rear end collision. At the time, Defendant was a 70-year-old retiree. The force of the collision pushed Plaintiff's Toyota across the intersection of Canoga and Nordhoff.
