Facts

The state of California filed a complaint against Best Buy Stores LP for advertising inaccurate prices. The complaint alleged that Best Buy charged more than the advertised prices in violation of false advertising and unfair competition laws.

Result

A Riverside County judge ordered Best Buy to pay $875,370 in fines and costs. The judge also ordered the company to institute a new "Pricing Accuracy Program," and enjoined it from committing similar violations in the future.
