Facts
The plaintiff stopped for a red light during morning rush-hour. When the light turned green, she
moved forward and was broadsided in the middle of an intersection. The driver behind the
plaintiff testified that the light was green for the plaintiff and that the plaintiff had moved
appropriately into the intersection. As a result of the accident, the plaintiff sustained a cervical
strain. She treated with a physician for close to six months. She was a student at UCSB and an
accomplished ballet dancer. Her injuries compromised her ability to attend all practices and
performances.
