The case involves a 3-vehicle automobile collision that occurred on Nov. 23, 2000 in the city of Inglewood. The
plaintiff, Eric Edwards was driving a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass, and his passenger was the plaintiff, James
Peters III. The defendant, Adelina Noriega, was driving a 1997 Nissan Sentra. The plaintiffs Edwards and
Peters claimed personal injuries and damages caused by the incident.

On Nov. 14, 2001, the matter was arbitrated before Jack A. Weichman. Weichman awarded plaintiff Edwards $8,840, which included property damage of $1,290. Plaintiff Peters was awarded $2,014. The arbitrator found the reasonable and necessary medicals were determined to be $2,550 for Edwards and $915 for Peters. On the cross-complaint, Noriega was to take nothing from the cross-defendants Edwards and Peters. Costs were awarded to the plaintiffs per the cost bill. On or about Nov. 26, 2001, the defendants filed a request for trial de novo after arbitration. On or about June 14, 2002, the defendants filed a motion to tax costs. The plaintiffs' costs as filed were $1,260.91. On or about July 12, 2002, the plaintiffs filed their Opposition to the Defendant's Motion to Tax Costs and included an Amended Memorandum of costs in the amount of $1,041.91. At the end of defendants' case, the plaintiffs and cross-defendants Edwards and Peters made a motion for nonsuit on the cross-complaint. The motion was granted as to the passenger cross-defendant, Peters. Defendant Noriega was found to be negligent and 100 percent of the cause of the injury to the plaintiffs. Plaintiff Edwards was awarded $2,000 property damage, $900 loss of use of his vehicle, $3,960 for medical specials (the full amount of his medical bill) and $5,000 for economic damages. Plaintiff Peters was awarded $1,420 for medical specials (the full amount of his medical bill) and $5,000 for non-economic damages.
