Facts
On April 14, 1992, Plaintiff Wrenetta Sue Clement, a 51-year-old billing clerk at Loma Linda Medical Facility, fell on a back stairway. Clement was in the course and scope of her employment. The stairway steps had been made by pouring concrete and sprinkling rock salt on top. The rock salt was then washed away. This left indentations in the steps and created a slip-resistant surface. Clement caught her heel in one of those indentations. The stairs were owned and maintained by Defendant MVP United States, the landlord and property management agent.
