Facts

On July 15, 2005, plaintiff Brian M. Hayden received right inguinal hernia repair with mesh at the Veterans Long Beach Medical Center in California. The hernia repair was revised on Feb. 2, 2006.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff contended that the medical staff severed his right vas deferens and surrounding blood vessels during surgery. The vas deferens was repaired. The blood supply to the testicle was not. As a result, he suffered loss of blood flow to his right testicle, causing it to become necrotic. On Feb. 11, 2006, plaintiff was subjected to a right scrotal simple orchiectomy.

Result

Parties reached a $180,000 settlement.
