On Aug. 23, 1993, plaintiff Janet Georgeanne, a 40-year-old letter carrier, allegedly slipped and fell on defendant Frank Oakden's premises. The defendant used an oil absorbent material, similar to cat litter, in the maintenance of the parking lot at his property. The plaintiff claimed that she slipped on this material. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on premises liability and negligence theories of recovery.
