Facts

On July 14, 1988, Plaintiff, a 40-year-old small-business owner, was operating a 1982 Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on a Defendant city street intending to turn left onto a northbound avenue on a green light. Defendant was traveling westbound operating a 1973 Porsche 914. Plaintiff turned left in front of Defendant, resulting in a broadside collision. Plaintiff was not wearing her seat belt at the time of impact; Defendant did not leave any skid marks on the roadway. Defendant had been on vacation and was headed to his employer's corporate office to pick up a paycheck.

Plaintiff was separated at the time of the accident, and during trial the loss of consortium claim by her husband was dismissed.
